[For Jorah] Under the Targaryen Banner
The rebellion had been crushed.
The Baratheons were punished and Robert was beheaded for leading the charge against the Targaryen banner. Battles had been waged and fought all across Westeros, and luckily for the Targaryens, they had plenty of loyal supporters who fought for them. The Mormont clan were such supporters. Particularly Jorah Mormont, who was knighted by the King when the war was over.
But he didn't stop there.
Jorah's loyalty and devotion to the Targaryen banner was so great and his deeds were so admirable that the King took it a step further. He made Jorah Warden of the North, and sent his youngest child, his daughter Daenerys, to meet Jorah at Winterfell.
Another reward for Ser Jorah Mormont: She was to be his bride.
Daenerys wasn't sure how she felt about the North. On the carriage ride all she did was pull the furs about her tighter, to keep her warm. When they finally arrived at Winterfell, it began to snow lightly all around them. A Gold Cloak had been sent North to see that Daenerys was delivered safely, and he opened the carriage door for her to let her out.

He had not been prepared for the added honor of a bride, the King's daughter no less! He had heard rumors that she would marry her older brother one day, but was elated to hear that was simply a rumor.
He had been sure that there was significant security for her safe arrival. Jorah stood in his armor to greet her once she stepped out of the carriage.

Daenerys stepped out of the carriage with the help of the Gold Cloak. She had a thick pelt around her to keep her warm. When she saw Jorah standing before the carriage, clad in his armor, she couldn't help but blush.
"Her Royal Highness, Daenerys of House Targaryen, Princess of the Seven Kingdoms!" the herald announced her officially.

Jorah bowed once she was announced. "Your Grace." He said in reverence. He immediately felt that he did not deserve such a gift as her for a bride.

"Ser Jorah of House Mormont, I presume?" she tipped her head and gave him a little smile. She still didn't know how she felt about this decision, but she was not about to resist the will of the Mad King. "I am honored to be in your presence, the service you have done for my father is beyond admirable."

He would lead her towards the main part of the castle to the chambers she would occupy until their wedding. "I hope you like the chambers that have been prepared for you." He began as they walked into the shelter of the stone and into far warmer air. As he led her up the stairs he spoke softer to her. "If anything further will be needed for your comfort do not hesitate to ask." He said with a smile before opening the door to her chambers. He had multiple furs in the room and plenty of fireplaces that were lit. Since she was not from the North it would take her quite some time to adjust to the cold. He had picked a few young women to serve as her maids if she required them, he was unsure how many would accompany her to the North.

"I'm indeed glad I'm not just sensitive," she smiled weakly. "The weather up North is indeed something to which I am not accustomed."
Daenerys followed alongside him to her chambers. They weren't much like her chambers in the Red Keep, but she would not complain. The bear and wolf furs that adorned the bed did indeed look warm and inviting, at the very least. "You're very kind Ser Jorah, I thank you." She smiled back to him before she stepped into the chambers. "I hope you don't think me rude - but I have traveled a long way and am rather famished...will dinner be served soon?"
no subject
When he stood he smiled to her, "Your household staff is also welcome here, I have prepared a few chambers just below this one for them." He was still uncertain if her father had sent her with a small number of servants.

As she spoke, Daenerys' maids pulled her cloak off and revealed her alabaster skin and the deep blue dress she wore.

He left a young boy to escort her and turned to return to the banquet hall. The image of her beauty unveiled from beneath the furs had caused arousal to stir within him. He was not certain if his eyes may have betrayed him to her or not.

Her older brother Viserys arrived later on to be witness to his sister's marriage. Daenerys then went to the hall and was led by the young boy to the dining hall where dinner had been assembled. Viserys was waiting there, haughty as ever. Daenerys was silently thanking the gods that she hadn't been forced to marry him - Viserys was not a pleasant man to be around.
But Daenerys could tolerate a dinner with him, especially given that her seat seemed to be beside her husband-to-be and not her brother. She smiled as she settled into her seat. So many wonderful scents and tasty-looking foods assembled, Daenerys could feel her mouth watering.
"Everything looks wonderful, Ser Jorah," Daenerys smiled.

When his bride-to-be arrived, he stood to offer her respect before moving to walk with her to her seat next to him. He had a pleased smile on his face at her complement, but made sure to address both her and her brother. "I am glad to hear that. I sent crows to King's landing to learn of your Highness' favorite dishes and I do hope that my cooks did as excellent of a job with those dishes as those of the North."
no subject
She sniffed the air again, seeing how well his cooks had done. She smelled it almost immediately: Roast lamb and sweet fruit tarts. Her two favorite dishes in all the world. Daenerys almost grinned, unable to hold back her joy at the wonderful scents. She glanced to Jorah as she took her seat.
"So far I'd venture to guess that they did a superb job," she smiled.

It seemed his young bride was quite sweet and would likely adapt to life here quite well. At least, well enough outside of the cold weather.

Her brother commented that the food was indeed to his liking, which he admitted surprised him giving how far North they were. Daenerys found this rude, but didn't scold her brother. She knew better. Instead she sought to rectify his remark.
"The lamb is delicious Ser Jorah - your cooks are indeed very skilled," she complimented politely, taking another bite of the lamb. It was soft and fell apart in her mouth much to her delight.

She was anxious for the ceremony. Anxious to be a wife.

"Yes, I've been told, I am most anxious for it. Well, perhaps not anxious for the cold, but still..." Daenerys bit her lip as she looked up at Jorah. "I confess...it would be my first kiss. I just hope I do not do it incorrectly."
The kiss, or the bedding ceremony, which her brother declared mandatory. Gods, if only Rhaegar hadn't died in the war, then he might have given her away.
no subject
He did lean forward and whispered lowly. "I have instructed trusted men to escort you if your brother insists on a bedding ceremony. They will be gentle and if you are not comfortable, they will shield you from less friendly eyes and keep you as modest as possible until arriving in the room." He told her. A bedding was not always observed in the North, and was usually only performed if royalty was present and insisted upon it.
no subject
...and then he'd spoken. And she'd never been more embarrassed. But in an effort to push past her embarrassment, Daenerys nodded. "Thank you - yes, that is indeed kind of you." For royalty was indeed present, and insisting upon a bedding ceremony - all thanks to Viserys Targaryen.

It took serious self restraint to step back from her. He bowed as he kissed the back of her hand. "I look forward to seeing you in the morning." He said before slowly walking away and towards his chambers.

She tried to sleep but it was difficult. And sure enough Viserys came to collect her just before dawn. The maids dressed her in a gown of white with pristine jewels sewn into the fabric. Then a cloak of soft snow rabbit fur was wrapped about her shoulders to keep her warm. Her hair was dressed in strands of pearls and glittering diamonds. When she was finally ready, Viserys escorted her out of the castle to the godswood.

When he spotted Daenerys walking towards him he felt as if her beauty would melt the snow around her. He was eager to take her hands into his own and be wed.
no subject
She was used to Southern weddings, which differed to Northern weddings slightly. Thus she would have to follow Jorah's lead as the ceremony started.
no subject
Jorah leaned in slowly before kissing her gently. He desired to hold it lo her than he did, but he did pull back from the kiss slowly to cheers. He smiled at his wife before sweeping her off of her feet and into his powerful arms to carry her to the banquet hall that was far warmer than the snow outside.
