[For Jorah] Under the Targaryen Banner

The rebellion had been crushed.

The Baratheons were punished and Robert was beheaded for leading the charge against the Targaryen banner. Battles had been waged and fought all across Westeros, and luckily for the Targaryens, they had plenty of loyal supporters who fought for them. The Mormont clan were such supporters. Particularly Jorah Mormont, who was knighted by the King when the war was over.

But he didn't stop there.

Jorah's loyalty and devotion to the Targaryen banner was so great and his deeds were so admirable that the King took it a step further. He made Jorah Warden of the North, and sent his youngest child, his daughter Daenerys, to meet Jorah at Winterfell.

Another reward for Ser Jorah Mormont: She was to be his bride.

Daenerys wasn't sure how she felt about the North. On the carriage ride all she did was pull the furs about her tighter, to keep her warm. When they finally arrived at Winterfell, it began to snow lightly all around them. A Gold Cloak had been sent North to see that Daenerys was delivered safely, and he opened the carriage door for her to let her out.

Jorah was very concerned with how wide her eyes were. He leaned in and listened to her words before freezing. His brow furrowed with worry that turned to confusion mixed with relief and joy as her words slowly sank in. He saw the smile on her face as he slowly shifted a hand down to rub over her belly tenderly. "You.....we....how.....how is this possible?" He asked in a soft whisper. He would thank the gods old and new for this gift.

Daenerys laughed playfully at his reaction and leaned up to kiss him. "I don't know...the Maester said I was a few months along - I must have been carrying more than one when I fell." She looked up to him with wide eyes. Her hand came down to her belly to rest on top of his.

"The gods have smiled on us," she should have lost both babies in that fall, but clearly a miracle had allowed her to keep at least one baby.

Jorah was confused until she mentioned possibly carrying more than one child. Joy filled his eyes as he kissed along the side of her face. "We are truly blessed and favored by the gods." He said with joy.

He gently rubbed the back of her head. "Did he have any suggestions to lessen the headaches that plague you?" He asked.

Daenerys nodded in agreement. "So long as the baby is healthy and isn't hurt from the fall. According to the Maester though, the baby is healthy and growing at the normal rate."

At his question, she shook her head. "There are herbs, but knowing what the issue is makes it less frightening and less painful, you know? I don't mind it so much now."

Jorah nodded his head in agreement as he kissed her temple. He smiled as he shifted her so that she could curl up in his lap as he held her. "We are going to have a child. What do you hope for? A girl? Or a boy?" He asked her. Honestly he was happy to be having a child so soon after their victory. He would be pleased with a healthy child regardless of the gender.

Daenerys smiled and looked up to him, lacing her fingers with his over her belly. She cuddled into him and kissed over his neck.

"I am just relieved that we are able to have a baby," she replied. "I would be happy with either, so long as it is healthy. But a son to be the image of his father would be nice, I'll admit."

Jorah smiled as he nodded his head in agreement. "As am I. I am glad that we will get to experience such joy so soon." He said as one hand drifted to gently massage over her lower back. "Would you like for me to have a bath drawn? I could give you a shoulder and back massage." He offered as he kissed her temple gently.

Daenerys' eyes lit at the offer. She nodded happily. "Yes, please - I would indeed like to share in a bath with my husband after such happy news," she looked down at her belly. It wasn't quite swollen yet, but she looked forward to seeing it grow as the child inside her grew as well.

Jorah smiled as he rang a small bell and servants quickly came in. Soon the bath was prepared and they were left alone. He assisted his wife in undressing before stripping as well. He stepped into the tub and offered his hand to help her in with him. He began to pour water over her to wash up as his strong hands moved to massage her shoulders.

Daenerys slipped easily from her clothes as he undressed her. She loved watching him undress, stripping of his armor and all the trappings that came with it. She loved just lying in bed and counting his scars, tracing patterns between them.

She took his hand and slid into the tub with him. Daenerys laughed softly as he doused her with water. As he moved to massage her shoulders, Daenerys sighed and leaned into him. There was nowhere in the Seven Kingdoms she'd rather be.

"That feels heavenly," she sighed.

Jorah smiled as he heard her sigh in pleasure. He continued to massage her shoulders before moving up to massage her neck as well. "As our child grows within you I will be happy to give you more massages. All you have to do is ask." He said as he continued the gentle massage.

Daenerys smiled and looked up to him as he massaged her neck. "That wounds wonderful, you do spoil me so, my love," she tilted her head a bit more to kiss his jaw. "I could not have been promised to a better husband." Her father had gotten that right at least.

Jorah smiled as he tilted his head to return that gentle kiss. "It is my duty as your husband and lover to protect you and to keep you comfortable and satisfied. I know that your needs will be greatest during this time. Not because of a weakness. Simply because you are working for two people rather than one and it is far more work." He said lovingly.

Daenerys smiled and chuckled softly. "And our child is the child of a bear and a dragon - certainly they will have great demands unlike any other child." She teased as she looked down at her belly. "I can't wait...do you suppose the baby can hear us yet?" She rolled her eyes at her own naivete. "No, of course not. Silly of me."

Jorah chuckled at that as his hands drifted down to her belly. "That is true. I am quite certain they will be quite active within you." He said in agreement. He kissed her temple when she thought herself foolish. "I think they can. Perhaps not very well right now in the bath, but I have heard that they can hear quite well very early." He said.

Daenerys smiled down at her belly. "We'll talk to him - or her, whatever our child is. Every night if we can. I want our child to know how loved it is before it's even born." Daenerys looked up to Jorah and smiled, relieved. She kissed him softly and leaned into him. "I'm...just so happy to be able to have your child..."

Jorah smiled as he finished the slow massage and moved down to tenderly and lovingly place his hands on her belly. "They will know they are loved." He said before kissing along the side of her face. He was eager to announce their good news to the seven Kingdoms. However, he would wait until she was ready to inform the people of that good news.

"Indeed they shall," Daenerys smiled as she rested her hands atop his and cuddled in close. "The Maester knows, so it's only a matter of time before the kingdom does. Shall we make a public announcement in the morning?" She was eager to share the good news with the people.

Jorah was so excited at her words he gave her a little squeeze in his joy. "I would love to make such an announcement my Queen and love." He said with a wide smile. He was so pleased to see her happy and relieved that she was not sick that he felt he just might burst with joy.

Daenerys smiled and laughed softly at his enthusiasm. "I can't wait to welcome our baby into the world."

Daenerys and Jorah made the announcement the next day. To her delight, the crowd shared in their joy.

In the months that followed, Daenerys grew to be rather large. Even the Maester was surprised at how much her belly had swelled. It was a little debilitating to poor Daenerys, who had significant trouble moving around with her belly so swollen and full of child.

Most times she had to stay in bed for extended periods of time. Daenerys found herself in such a state now. Jorah was near though, and she fidgeted in discomfort. She looked up to him with wife Violet eyes, pleading.

"Jorah?" She held her arms up to him.

Jorah had been so happy and proud to announce their excellent news. He saw how happy the people were and enjoyed their strong support. He was by Daenerys' side even more than usual as her stomach ballooned out. The Maester continued to report a healthy child. Jorah had grown jumpy as of late. Her belly was so swollen with their child that he thought she was about to go into labor any second now.

He reacted quickly and reached out for her when she called. "Yes my Queen." He said prepared to do whatever she asked of him.

Her approximate due date, as judged by the Maester, was indeed near. She could have the baby any day now. But her belly was just so big. In all honesty, she was looking forward to her delivery day if only to get rid of her massive belly.

She took hold of Jorah's arms and sat up, moving to set her feet on the floor. "....your child is wearing my strength thin," she teased. But she was partially serious.

Jorah thanked the gods old and new that her due date was so close. He looked forward to greeting their child and seeing his strong, very independent wife finally gain some of her mobility back. He gave her a tender smile as he was prepared to pick her up and carry her the moment she requested it and not a moment sooner. He knew she was happy, but he was also aware that she hated having to be so dependent on him. He learned quickly not to do too much unless she requested it. "If the child saps so much of your energy perhaps it is a girl. I have heard that girls are more willful and more tiring during pregnancy." He said lightly as a joke.

Daenerys had started to walk, and glared playfully at him when he said that. "You're not funny." She grunted softly as she felt the baby kick. "Even your child agrees with me."

But the baby had begun to kick and move within her more than usual as of late. The night before she had trouble sleeping. The baby was very restless and fussy inside her. Pain had begun to ache in her core - the beginnings of labor, not that she was fully aware of it.

Jorah could not help the smile tug at the corner of his mouth. "With how active they are, they sound far more like your child than mine." He teased further. He knew it was a gamble to tease her, but he also knew it gave her a little fire to fight back and in the end that would boost her spirits about being so limited at the moment.

He leaned in to gently kiss her temple as one hand moved to massage her lower back as they walked. "How do you feel today?" He asked softly.
