[For Lockheed] A Day at the Beach

Dejah always enjoyed Jasoom's beaches. The heat and the sand reminded her of Barsoom, while the water took her back to her childhood days dreaming about the Time of Oceans. But being here with Lockheed and the twins made the experience that much more enjoyable.

The babies were still small, while Dejah sat on the blanket in a blue one-piece bathing suit, Dinah was edging curiously towards the edge of the blanket. Curiously she nudged her little front paw against the sand and shied back at the soft, hot feel of it. Dejah chuckled and reached out to run her fingers over Dinah's soft head.

"Was it not what you expected, little love?" she teased softly.

Dinah and Martin both cooed and hugged their mothers palms and arms tenderly as Lockheed smiled and nodded. "I'm sure they'll pick it up quickly, so don't worry, as long as we're there they should be ok." He took to the air and moved towards the waterline.

As they approached the water Dejah knelt down in the sand right above where the waves were hitting the beach - just barely out of the water's reach. "Dinah, Martin, look loves, look there," Dejah reached out to the water as it crashed against the sand.

Dinah crawled out of her mother's grasp and edged towards the water. She reached out with her paw and slapped it against the water, letting out a loud yipe-like sound before bolting in fear behind her mother.

Martin blinked in alarm at his sister's reaction to the strange liquid, but his own curiosity took over as he moved towards it until a sudden surge splashed him. He didn't so much yip as splutter and moved backwards with a slight hiss before re-joining his sister.

Lockheed patted the two smaller dragons tenderly as he smiled at Dejah. "They might require some practice first. Look at me, little ones!" He moved to the water and swam a little awkwardly in the shallows, used to deeper water to work with, but his skill was clearly there.

Dejah saw the babies weren't really paying attention, and she tipped their heads towards the sea to look at him properly.

"Look, see? It doesn't hurt at all," Dejah spoke softly before reaching down as a wave came up and she caught some of the water in her hand, before it leaked out between her fingers. "All gone! Just water, it can't hurt you, my loves."

With their mother demonstration of the mysterious water's safety the little ones cautiously moved back towards the surf and started to splash about. Martin seemed a little more forward and flicked the water about with his tail and paws to his amusement, whilst Dinah moved closer to her father once he was near to them, feeling safer by his side.

"There yeh go little ones, yeh perfectly safe. Mother and Father will always protect yeh, I promise."

Dejah smiled once the babies got used to the water. She reached out to Martin and gave his tail a playful squeeze beneath the water.

"See loves? I told you it was all right," Dejah bent down and nuzzled her face against Martin's, her hair falling over one shoulder so that the surf kissed the ends of her hair.

Martin yelped with some bubbles when he felt the hand on his tail, likely assuming the crab was after him again but it turned into a gleeful giggle when he saw it was his mother as he came to the surface and nuzzled her back happily.

"They're always happy to be with their mother, Martin and Dinah know yeh take care of them so well." Lockheed bobbed on the surface as his daughter swam beside him and mimicked the action.

Dejah chuckled as she nuzzled her son, whispering soft sweetness to him. She leaned up again and moved to run one hand over Martin's back before she looked up to see Dinah and Lockheed.

"They know you do the same for them, dearest," Dejah pointed out with a soft giggle, watching their daughter swim.

Martin cooed happily at her mother's attention, eventually climbing up to sit on her shoulder as he had seen his father often do. Dinah was still swimming about happily with her father as he returned to the waterline with her.

"I always try my best to be. Yeh think given my age I would have been a dad before this but I guess I was always busy out in space. I'm glad yeh became my wife though."

Dejah laughed as Martin crawled up onto her shoulder. She reached up and gently scratched beneath his chin. "Well hello there my love, enjoying yourself?"

She glanced down to Lockheed again though when he spoke. "Well...as one who was supposed to be a mother much sooner, I can understand that. I suppose this was just the time the Godess chose for us to become parents."

The little dragon giggled again and nodded at his mother's words as he enjoyed her soft fingers on his chin. Lockheed meanwhile picked up Dinah and moved across to sit next to Dejah with a smile.

"Hmmmm, well it's the best time for it, my love. Whether yeh could have been a mother earlier or not yeh gonna be a great one now." Dinah clambered from her father's hands and moved over to Dejah, poking her gently so that she could be picked up.

"I certainly hope you're right," Dejah smiled, her eyes becoming a bit glassy.

At Dinah's poking though Dejah lifted their baby girl up into her arms and cradled her to her chest, gently tickling the tip of her finger against Dinah's little belly. "What is it little one? Are you just starving for attention? My poor baby!" Dejah laughed.

Lockheed was certain that whilst it had been far too long a wait for her, now Dejah and he had children they would both be excellent parents.

Dinah let out a wave of laughter, wiggling playfully her mother's attentions whilst Martin glanced between the two of them. "I doubt either of them will be starved for attention. Though we'd better give them some food so they ain't starved for grub, huh?"

Dejah glanced up to Lockheed when he brought that up - he made an excellent point.

"True enough," she glanced between the babies. "Are you hungry darlings?"

Dejah had fed them from her own breast, but as they got a bit bigger they had also started introducing them to solid food, which she had brought a few sandwiches with them to the beach that she could easily pick apart into smaller pieces for Dinah and Martin.

He was feeling peckish himself anyway after all that swimming, so it felt like the right moment.

At the mention of food from their mother the two babies squeed happily as Martin joined his sister in their mother's arms. Though Lockheed's race were generally carnivores they were able to eat other things just fine, and Dejah's milk and solid food provided at healthy mix for them. The larger dragon located the lunch box they had brought for all of them and opened it up. "Seems like yeh milk is making them nice and strong, and it's good they're eating solid stuff now too. Anything yeh want, my love?"

Dejah moved back a bit from the water and towards where the picnic basket had been left. She laughed softly at their enthusiasm; they were certainly healthy little eaters! Not that she minded, Dejah enjoyed feeding them from her breast when the situation permitted. Though they were indeed getting a bit bigger and needed solid food more often, she was trying to limit how much of her milk they drank.

"I'm all right for now, thank you," Dejah smiled to Lockheed before she turned a bit, making sure no one would see as she pushed her swimsuit aside and exposed both her breasts so the babies could drink a bit before she would set them on the solid food she and Lockheed had brought.

Lockheed was able to extract the sandwiches and other food items whilst Dejah was busy feeding the babies. Martin and Dinah meanwhile sucked their mother's nipples carefully - when they'd first started the two had been often a little hard on their mother but being intelligent babies had quickly understood that doing so was a discomfort to her, so they had become receptive and now sucked more gently as they drank. Lockheed admired how beautiful Dejah was this way, her affection for their children evident as he used his claws to pull some strips of meat and bread for the babies.

Dejah watched them both as they fed from her breasts. She couldn't help but get lost in the sight for a moment. It was a method of bonding and she was almost sad to have them wean off of her milk. But after a moment she nudged them free - though she hardly needed to.

The scent of the meat drew their attention, and Dinah even released from her mother to tilt her head back to look at her father. She chirped happily when she saw the strips of meat and bread.

"Go on love, go see Daddy," Dejah set the little pink dragon on the ground so she could toddle over and get solid food from Lockheed.

They were both very adorable when feeding, each making a slight cooing from their mother's attentions as they sucked gently. Once they'd had their fill and saw the food though they were more than content to go to their father.

Lockheed smiled happily as first Dinah and then Martin clambered over the sand to their food hamper and to him, handing them each a strip of bread and meat. Martin was rather more ravenous with normal food and fed quicker than his sister who ate slowly, clearly savouring the tastes of these new foods. Lockheed gently stroked their little heads as they fed, pleased to care for them as he located a larger sandwich for himself and another for his wife. "They should be happy enough after a few of those, do yeh think?"

Dejah reached for the sandwich when offered and smiled down at their feeding babies. They seemed to be growing so quickly. Already they were much bigger than they had been when they'd been born, though it hadn't been that long at all!

"I think so," Dejah chuckled softly as she stroked along Martin's back. "Easy love, chew slowly - such a small belly, you don't want to get sick."

They had certainly grown since their birth, and Lockheed figured both Dinah and Martin would reach his size within a couple of years. Their steady diet of milk from their mother and fresh food was clearly working for them.

Martin glanced up from his eating at his mother's words, his face becoming apologetic as he understood what she meant. He started again, a little closer to Dinah's pace. "They seem very smart already, I wouldn't be surprised if they'll start talking before long." Lockheed said proudly.

Dejah smiled in approval of her son's new pace. Then she glanced to Lockheed as he spoke again.

"Of course they're smart, how could they not be?" Dejah teased him. "They'll indeed be talking soon, I can't wait to see what their first words will be."

Dejah gently stroked over Dinah's head as she smiled down to her.

Dinah's glanced up from her mother's attentions and babbled happily as if partly confirming her parents feelings on them talking shortly.

"Me too, my love. Hopefully something like momma or dada and expand from there." Lockheed moved back to Dejah and patted her side tenderly.

Dejah plucked up Dinah in her hands and nuzzled the tip of her nose against Dinah's snout. "What do you think then? Will you be talking soon? Who'll be first, you or your brother?"

In response Dinah giggled happily, clearly liking her mother's playful side as she babbled some more. There wasn't anything immensely clear at the moment but some did sound a lot like 'mama' and 'dadda'.

"Yeh might have an answer to yeh questions there, my love." Lockheed smiled up at them both whilst he picked up Martin who settled happily in his father's lap.

Dejah smiled and kissed Dinah's little head. "I hope so - though they'll come to it in their own time, I'm sure of it." No need to rush them growing up.

She cooed happily at the attention whilst Lockheed and Martin in his arms landed back on Dejah's lap at they sat. "No need to rush them, they'll be brilliant however long it takes. Regardless I feel like the luckiest to have yeh and the kids."

Dejah cradled Dinah in one arm and reached down to tickle Martin's belly while Lockheed held their son.

"Indeed - they'll only be this young for a short time, no sense rushing them to grow up. It'll happen fast enough," she admitted.

Both of their children were clearly happy with the amount of attention she and Lockheed were giving to them, and despite his usual more serious nature than his sister Martin had to giggle at Dejah's tickling.

"Make the most of it whilst they're young, yep. But it's good for us to give them special days like this. I know yeh and me are both sometimes busy types but it's important we have the hatchlings in mind too."

Dejah smiled - always enjoying it when she could get the more serious Martin to giggle. She leaned over and kissed his snout, then the top of Dinah's head so she wouldn't feel left out.

"We're busy, yes. But we're never too busy for our children."

Martin might be more serious than Dinah but he was more than capable of finding his mother's attentions to make him giggle and smile, cooing and speaking in a happy babble as Dinah cooed from her own received kiss.

"Of course not, we'll always be there for them, and our friends too." Martin and Dinah were already firm favourites of their 'Aunt Kitty' and the rest of the X-Men.

Dejah sat back comfortably, pulling Dinah up and snuggling their daughter to her chest. Her blue eyes flashed between Dinah and Martin, then she smiled up to Lockheed.

"Always."

The children hugged their mother back in response, happy as ever to be her centre of attentions whilst their father watched them all admiringly.

"Yep! And maybe sometime down the road they'll have other siblings for them to look after as much as we would."

Dejah glanced up at him and smiled when he mentioned more siblings for Dinah and Martin. "It's not out of the realm of possibilities."

The little dragon blushed slightly but grinned nonetheless. "Good, cause I like being parents together, and it'll be nice to have more than two down the way. And sharing them with you, my love."

Sorry for delays, on and off in work a bit, hoping to get musebox sorted soon!

It's all right! I've been busy myself packing up getting ready to move anyway

Oh, awesome, sounds pretty busy, going far?

Not far, no - not yet anyway - but it's a LOT of stuff to pack lol

Makes my current paperwork sort out seem tame, hope it goes ok.
