[For Lockheed] Expecting the Unexpected

They had their little schedule - Dejah left her bedroom window open enough for Lockheed to enter if he decided to visit her in the night, or whenever he pleased, really. So it should have been no surprise to Dejah Thoris when her monthly bleeding didn't come. Nor should it have been a surprise when she took a home test and the results came through clear: Positive.

Pregnant.

She sat on the side of the bathtub, staring at the test in her hand. Hardly believing the clear facts that were before her.

He loved her stroking him, her fingers were always so delicate and precise and felt wonderful on his warm scaly skin, another demonstration of their bond together. At her question he looked a little sheepish before speaking.

"Ah, well... it's nothing bad, just... I really like yeh, Dejah, and when people on Earth really like each other they sometimes, ah... get married. And I know yeh had some problems with the last times yeh were enagaged and all, and I ain't got a ring to give yeh right now, but..." He drifted off, uncertain what to say next.

Dejah smiled and chuckled softly as he explained. She continued to stroke her fingers along his body, enjoying the movement and the feel of his scales.

"People should not marry for 'like', dearest. People should marry for love - so let me ask you this," Dejah set her fingers beneath his chin and scratched gently. "Do you love me?"

Lockheed was at least glad she seemed to take his suggestion kindly, blushing at her chuckle, though he quickly realised his mistake in wording.

"Of course! I mean yes, I do love yeh. Yeh the kindest person I've met after Kitty, but yeh also smart, tough and course, yeh also really beautiful. If we marry, it'll be cause I love yeh, and hope yeh love Heed as much."

Dejah smiled and leaned down to kiss him softly. Her face lingered beside his for a few moments more.

"Of course, dearest. I love you. My dragon - my Lockheed," Dejah smiled and kissed him again.

He relished her lips on his as he stroked her long hair with a paw, a smile on his snout at her kind words.

"I love being yeh dragon, my fair princess... then will yeh do Heed the honour of becoming my wife?"

Dejah blushed as the question hit her ears. On Barsoom, it was simply a matter of referring to someone as yours, and them reciprocating. So, in Dejah's eyes and culture, they were as good as married as they had said 'my dragon' and 'my princess'. But she knew that's not quite how things worked on Jasoom - clearly not based on Lockheed asking her the question again.

"Remind me, love, someday we'll discuss how marriage works on Barsoom. But, yes. The honor would be mine."

Lockheed would understand the concept of partnerships forming on such simple understandings - after all his own race became partners on the basis of impressing the other, feelings bonds of love and understanding that they would be ideally suited to raise hatchlings together. And he considered Dejah his princess and love. Even so, he'd come to admire the ceremony humans made here on Earth for marriage, and the idea of having one of his own was a pleasant one. But it would be down to his love, of course.

In any case he almost squealed for joy at her acceptance. "I would be happy to discuss it with yeh at some point soon! And yeh have no idea how good yeh saying so makes me feel!" He impulsively flapped up into her arms and planted a deep passionate kiss against her lips/

Dejah had yet to see a Jasoomian wedding ceremony herself. Certainly there were ceremonies on Barsoom, but they were limited to royalty like herself, and they were just for show, a way to boost kingdom morale. But as Lockheed hopped up into her arms, Dejah laughed and moved to return the kiss, holding him tight as she did so. She so loved to see him happy, especially on the level he displayed just now.

They were certainly special, and varied according to the people in question - he knew that his friend Katherine's wedding, whenever that happened, would be of a special sort due to her Jewish ancestry than what Scott and Jean's had been. Regardless they were always a good day for all concerned - and did come with lots of tasty human food, he awkwardly recalled liking most.

He was delighted with her response and his own only served to demonstrate that clearly, enjoying the warmth of her body on his as they hugged tightly, his Dragon tongue brushing against her own.

On any given day, Dejah would have been more than happy to let her tongue mingle with his. But given their surroundings she smiled, laughed a little and pulled back, being sure to stroke her lover's neck to make sure he didn't think he'd upset or offended her.

"Perhaps we've occupied your friend's lab long enough, love? Now might be a good time to go home," she smiled.

The dragon shifted back, clearly embarrassed at his overly romantic gesture in a rather public place, but he wasn't offended and remained in his lover's arms.

"Sure, I would like that, we can celebrate having at least two kids back home, right?"

Dejah smiled and gave him a quick little peck on the lips before she rose up, her arms still wrapped around him.

"We can indeed, my love," Dejah replied as she started to leave.

Her dragon lover nodded, accepting her kiss and returning it before he clambered up onto her shoulder.

"Good, what would yeh think is the best way to celebrate, my dear princess?" Of course whatever it would be, being in her company and that of their children to be would be enough.

"However you like," Dejah laughed. "Obviously drinking for me is out of the question, but whatever you'd like to do would suit me fine."

She left the facility and began walking back to her own apartment. It was a nice day, the sun felt warm on her skin. Despite having been a resident of Jasoom for some time, she still dressed in clothes that left a great deal of her skin exposed, though her belly in its round pregnant state was completely covered.

"Then we can spend the night at home together, maybe watch some Earth movies and curl up together and... ah, maybe more intimate stuff." The dragon finished a little sheepishly before smiling.

It was certain a beautiful day, and Lockheed had become comfortable enough that he didn't him him and his girlfriend... wife to be, perhaps in fact... seen together as he soaked up the sun's rays. And Dejah always wore clothing which demonstrated her beauty and sexual appeal.

"Sounds wonderful - I enjoyed that Italian take-out place you suggested some weeks ago, we could order that, watch movies as you said and...see where the evening takes us," Dejah chuckled and kissed him gently. She could definitely see the evening leading to more intimate activity.

Lockheed nodded happily at the thought of tasty human food, and he did wonder if Dejah had tried pizza before. Plus it could mean they might smuggle up close and go from there.

He kissed her back before speaking. "Yeah, I think that sounds perfect, my dear princess."

Dejah came to her apartment and opened the door. Immediately she went to the kitchen and explored the menu drawer for the right menu.

"You can go to the living room and get comfortable if you like," Dejah reached up and gently rubbed Lockheed's neck.

Her dragon partner cooed happily at the attention and nodded. "Sure thing Dejah, let me know if yeh need any help with anything, my love."

He moved into the living room and settled him on the sofa closest the television, excited at the prospect of spending the evening with his beautiful inpregnated new wife.

Dejah finally found the right menu and came in to settle on the sofa next to him. She opened up the menu and set it on the coffee table.

"Here's the menu, pick out what you'd like and I'll place the order," as she sat down she again let her hand slide over his back.

Once Dejah had settled herself on the sofa Lockheed curled up close to her, again enjoying her hands on his scaled body as he glanced at the menu she had brought to him.

"Ok, have yeh tried Pizza before? Figured yeh and me could share one together with some fries."

Dejah shook her head. She'd smelled it while walking in the streets, she'd seen people eat it. But Dejah had never tried it herself.

"I haven't, no. But that sounds lovely to me. I've seen different toppings on pizza, what do you recommend?"

"Oh, then yeh in for a treat! And yeh should probably get something with lots of meat, maybe onions or olives?" He patted her lap gently with a paw. "Whatever yeh feel good with, anyway."

"Mmm, I'm fine with the meats, but I never really cared for onions. But, if you want it, we can get it," Dejah smiled as she reached for the phone and continued to briefly glance over the menu to see if there was anything else she wanted.

The dragon clambered up onto her lap once she was sat down once more. "Just go for whatever yeh want, my love, I won't mind. Though best not to let me have anything too spicy." Past things like curry had led to rather fiery reactions from him by mistake, and he didn't want to burn any of Dejah's lovely belongings.
