Daenerys Targaryen had been married to Khal Drogo for some months now. She'd adjusted to the life of a khaleesi very well, but Daenerys was not drawn to her wedded husband. Jorah felt his breath stop when she said those words. He had not expected to hear that from her, he was happy....but surprised. He pulled her close and kissed her forehead tenderly. "I swear to be whatever you need of me. I will always be by your side. I will obey any command you ask of me. Even if it is just for conversation." He said with a soft smile. He loved her, but did not want simply to be physical with her.

Daenerys listened to each and every word. She kissed his chin when he was finished speaking and smiled to him. There was a slight sadness in her expression. They were in love - that should be the greatest pleasure and happiness in the world.

But she was married to Khal Drogo. She would have to carry his child.

"Stay alive, that is what I require of you. That is what I command you to do," she replied. "And...if the time comes and the Gods deem it necessary...you must watch me carry Drogo's child..." it hurt her to say it. But they had to accept the fact. She didn't want to think of how it would hurt him to see her pregnant with another man's child.

Jorah smiled, but there was indeed a hint of sadness in his eyes at her full command. He kissed her deeply. "I swear to remain alive. I also swear to help you when that time comes. I will step in to act as a nurse maid if that will allow me to remain close to you during that time." He said honestly.

He would not hope for tragedies to befall her that would give him the opportunity his heart and body desired with her. He could not allow himself to be that selfish.

Daenerys kissed him, happy that he agreed and knew the position they were in. A thought occurred to her and she leaned in slowly. She dropped her voice even lower.

"If I asked, could you..." she bit her lower lip. "Are you strong enough, could you kill Khal Drogo,if I asked it of you?"

Jorah returned the kiss and was beginning to set his mind to this unspoken agreement between them. Then she asked him to be selfish for himself. He paused as he considered if this was actually selfish since she was asking this of him.

He looked deep into those violet eyes of hers and gave a slow nod. He leaned in to speak lowly into her ear. "What would draw the least suspicion would be very painful and slow for him." He said. He had a blade and a bit of poison. It would not be unheard of for the great Khal to have gotten a small cut or two in his raid. A mild poison would make the cut fester and kill him. Being a khal he would be too stubborn to heal a small scratch. Not a single Dothraki would be suspicious, but he would suffer. Jorah would not act in this way unless Danearys ordered it of him.

Daenerys could not bring herself to order Jorah to kill her husband. He could very well die. But nor could she stand the thought of letting Drogo suffer. She thought long and looked up into his eyes. "Would it be foolhardy to think you could beat him in single combat? If you challenged him and won, the khalassar would have to accept you as the new khal, wouldn't they?

Jorah sighed softly. This was the answer he had expected to hear from her. He had not thought she would accept the first option, and honestly his code of honor would not like being so underhanded. He leaned forward to kiss her forehead tenderly. "If an opportunity presents itself and I feel that I won't be disobeying your first command to me...then yes I will strike." Jorah knew there were some Dothraki in the camp who felt Drogo was unfit to lead them. It was int a matter of time until they all issued a challenge against him. Jorah had seen it before. The last time, Drogo had said Jorah could test himself without fear of death for loosing. Jorah had accepted, but intentionally lost to the man. It had built trust with the Khal. If such an offer were extended again and accepted...Jorah would be fighting very differently.

She knew his honor forbade him from open betrayal. She knew this, and she loved him for it. Daenerys nodded slowly. She feared for his life if he stood against Khal Drogo, but she wanted her marriage to be over. She wanted to be free - free, and with Jorah Mormont. Daenerys leaned up and kissed him softly. "I love you," she whispered again. "I do not want you to die and leave me alone in this world, but we both know Drogo will never let me go." And again, she didn't want him to suffer for the sake of her freedom.

Jorah nodded his head in agreement as he looked deep into her eyes. "I will watch carefully for the perfect moment to claim you honorably. I cannot stoop to underhanded tactics even if my heart and body desire it. I promise not to make you wait too long my Queen." He said softly.

Daenerys smiled and nodded as she nuzzled him. "And in the meantime, we have one another," she whispered. "I can't refuse him, but know that I am all for you."

Some months passed. On the nights Drogo passed out drunk, or went on extended hunts, Daenerys went to Jorah's bed, or took him to hers. They were careful, and avoided being discovered.

Which was why when Drogo surged into the tent, enraged, Daenerys was totally unprepared. Drogo seized her by the hair and threw her from the tent, out where everyone could see. Daenerys tried to plead with Drogo, but he backhanded her, splitting her lip.

They had been very careful in their secret affair. Not even her maids were aware of what the two of them were doing. Jorah had heard the Dothraki shouting and gathering in a hurry. He quickly dawned his armor and rushed out towards Daenerys tent. He was stunned at what he saw and he quickly rushed forward. "What is the meaning of this?" He yelled as he stepped between Drogo and Danaerys.

Daenerys touched over her bleeding lip. Her heart flew when Jorah appeared, but she was also terrified for him.

Drogo glared at Jorah. "Move aside," He growled in Dothraki. "The silver woman has been unfaithful. She has taken a lover to my bed. Step aside, Jorah the Andal."

Jorah shook his head. "I cannot step aside. I swore to protect her. What evidence do you have of this? In Westeros someone accused has an opportunity to see the evidence against them and defend themselves. Often times people are falsely accused and punished simply because someone was jealous of them." He said. He doubted there was evidence, just suspicion in Drogo's mind.

A part of Jorah hoped the man would be enraged enough to press for more. It would give him an opportunity to challenge the Khal and seem forced to do so to uphold Westerosi honor.

Drogo took the bait. He got into Jorah's face and shouted his reply. "This is not Westeros, outlander! I make the law! I hear whispers that the khaleesi lets her eyes linger on another ad they should lounger upon me!"

He glared down at the other man. "You are quick to defend her. Could you be the perpetrator? Are you the one fucking my wife?" Drogo demanded, bringing his curved blade up to Jorah's throat.

Jorah bristled a bit at the accusation, but did not yet draw his weapon. "Whispers are not truth." He said in Dothraki. "Do you truly think I would put myself in front of you and risk being beaten by you again if I was?" He said.

Jorah knew Drogo would not attack him if his blade was not drawn, it was a sign of respect that Jorah had earned from the Dothraki.

Jorah focused in on Drogo. "I will not step aside and let you beat her because of whispers. My honor will not allow me to stand by and not act. I will defend her as the honor of Westeros demands. She is the last of her name in Westeros, I am bound to protect her...even from you." He said with humbleness in his voice. He showed body language that looked like he was not eager to fight Drogo, but his honor code demanded it of him.

Jorah knew that the Dothraki who did not like Drogo would honor him if he was victorious. This would be a dangerous dance indeed. He would need to block many of the hard blows from Drogo and keep him at a far distance.

Drogo stepped in closer and his voice turned low and dark. "Whispers may have some ring of truth, and her eyes, they betray her. She hides something from me."

Daenerys stood quickly and reached out to Drogo. "It isn't true, you don't have to do this-!"

Drogo didn't let her finish before smacking her again and sending her to the ground again. Blood dripped from her nose, but Daenerys kept herself upright and braced herself against the ground.

Jorah did not back down. He shoved Srogo back and quickly drew his sword to point it at the Khal. "I cannot allow you to continue this. Unless there is evidence, I must stand against you. My honor demands it." He said, knowing that this was now a direct challenge. He took a solid stance and waited for Drogo to make the first move. Jorah would slice and parry to keep him away from Danaerys. He would not allow Drogo to cause more of her blood to spill.

The khalassar, normally abuzz and whooping and hollering when a fight or challenge broke out, was dead silent. Drogo glared, and wasted no time slashing his blade to make an attempt at Jorah's throat. The Andal blocked the attack, but Drogo pushed against him, knowing he bested Jorah in size and physical strength. He tried to grab Jorah's dominant hand, in which he wielded a sword, to try and disarm him of the weapon. Daenerys only moves out of the way, fearful of what would become of Jorah if Drogo reigned victorious.
