[For Hannibal] Alliance of Fire

Renly Baratheon was dead, leaving his claim to the throne empty and his wife Margaery Tyrell a widow. Roose Bolton, of course, could spy an opportunity a mile away. He sent a raven to Highgarden, to Lord Mace Tyrell. Roose proposed that his youngest son and only legitimate heir be married to Margaery. Mace agreed, rather quickly as well - likely out of fear for the Bolton name.

But of course, Olenna Tyrell wasn't about to let that agreement happen. At least not on any terms but her own. So the agreement was made, but a time for delivering her to Winterfell had not been determined, and Olenna was not about to agree to one.

Ramsay Snow, wanting to be useful to his father and acknowledged as a true Bolton, decided to take action on his own. He took a small band of Bolton men and rode to Highgarden - he knew Margaery was there, after her day-long marriage to the late King Joffrey had ended. He kidnapped the Tyrell heiress and rode back to Winterfell. When he arrived, he dragged Margaery in with no amount of mercy or delicacy. He found his half-brother and father in a sitting room going over charts and battle strategies. Margaery, clad in a light dress with a keyhole opening at the front showing her cleavage and wrapping around her lower back, showing off the curves of her back and the lean muscle beneath her skin. Her skin was cold and covered in goosebumps, her lips slightly dark and a light shade of blue. But all the fire and anger was in Margaery's eyes. She wrenched herself free of Ramsay's grip and pulled her lips back to bare her teeth.

"Unhand me, mongrel!" she hissed.

"Dear father, brother - see what I've brought? We'll not have the Tyrells welching on their agreement any longer," Ramsay grinned. "The flower is a little frosty, but only because she did not appreciate my generosity of allowing her to ride in the carriage."

"What I did not appreciate was a bastard snatching me from my ancestral home and dragging me with no proper clothes into the North," Margaery snapped.

She so badly wanted to shift towards the fire, but she was bound and determined to stand tall and tough. Ramsay obviously thought her weak, she would prove him wrong.

Hannibal smirked at her answer. It greatly amused him that she seemed this distracted by his comment. He watched as she went to change and continued to hold their children. Both of the twins began to shift beside him. They would need to send them both to bed properly soon if they woke up.

Margaery dressed in a loose, soft gown of purple cloth. She took the twins in her arms as they stirred, she knew they would wake soon. Then she set them in their smaller beds and sat beside Hannibal, taking the baby in her arms.

"So you are happy with our newest addition to our family?" She asked.

Hannibal smiled as he nodded his head. "I am very pleased my love. I am honored and proud to have so many perfect, beautiful children from such a strong wife."

Margaery smiled and kissed him deep as Aenar began to stir.

In the months that came, the children grew older and more secure in their riding. Hannibal had spoken of a hunt when they returned to King's Landing, but Margaery, ever the overprotective mother, feared for her children. But she could hardly refuse the will of her husband.

Out they went, each on their own horses. Margaery carried Aenar carefully in her arms, the boy was barely six months old. Rhys and Reina both begged anxiously for their father to begin the lesson.

Hannibal was glad to be giving his children their first hunting lesson. They were big enough to ride ponies on their own. Something Hannibal suspected they were so good at because of practicing riding their dragons. All four dragons were with them, Hannibal let Vhagar know that he could go off to hunt on his own. The smaller dragons followed him to do a group hunt.

He led his children into the woods and looked over to them. "Tell me, what is the first rule of hunting?" He asked them.

"Be careful?" Rhys offered.

"Not wrong," Margaery tilted her head, appreciating that her son was at least concerned for safety.

"Be quiet," Reina replied to her father's question, bringing a finger to her lips.

Hannibal smiled to them, "Both excellent answers. However, the first rule is to be aware of your surroundings." He said. As they learned of the outdoors, they would need to sense when something was amiss.

Both were disappointed that they didn't get the answer right. But they nodded and listened obediently, and looked around.

"Mind you are not too obvious in your movements," Margaery advised. "Your prey should not know that you are looking for them. Keep them unaware."

Hannibal looked to his children. "You are still learning, no need to be disappointed. Now, how does wind affect how your prey can find you?" He asked them.

"Scent, Papa!" Rhys cried out, knowing he was right. Reina pointed to her nose.

Margaery smiled in pride and kissed over the sleeping Aenar's head. "Listen close, sweet one, soon you'll be learning too."

Hannibal smiled proudly. "Excellent! Yes, knowing which way the wind is going is important. Now, which direction should we approach prey from today?" He asked them.

Rhys and Reina both looked between themselves. They turned their heads to the wind and both pointed the same direction in unison.

"Down wind," Rhys said.

"That way," Reina asserted.

Hannibal smiled with pride as he nodded. "Excellent, now. We are looking for rabbits today. Where might we find some rabbits?" They had discussed this at home and he was curious what they remembered.

Margaery frowned and shook her head. She hated the thought of killing rabbits.

"Down, Papa!" Reina cried out. "In burrows! In bushes!"

"Need traps," Rhys added. "Rabbits fast."

Hannibal nodded before pointing to some branches. "Gather what you need to make traps." He said as he dismounted to help them down from their ponies. He then went to Margaery. "It is better to trap rabbits than suggest larger game." He pointed out to her. "They are not yet ready to string a bow or dance with a blade.

Margaery watched as Hannibal helped the twins dismount. Rhys took Reina's hand and they went to the nearby brush to get what they needed for traps.

"Stay where I can see you!" she called out to them.

Margaery then looked to Hannibal and nodded slowly as she reached out and ran her fingers over his jaw. "I know. I know." She replied as she nodded. "I would be far more upset if you had set them after deer or bears." She knew that they were Boltons, but she was not anxious to have them hunting predators as she had on her first hunt with Hannibal.

Hannibal smiled as he kissed the back of her hand tenderly. "Once they learn to shoot, I will take them bird hunting. However, I will wait until they are much older before I allow them to hunt larger game." He promised her.

Margaery smiled and nodded in agreement. "Fair enough," she smiled as she looked down to Aenar. "Then by that logic it won't be too long before you're hunting by their sides, little love."

Soon enough Rhys and Reina returned and had the instruments for their traps in hand. Vines and pliable branches, which they could tie off easily enough and make their traps.

Hannibal smiled as he nodded in agreement. He smiled proudly when his children brought back the correct tools. "Well done. Now, how can we discover what routes the rabbits will take to lay the traps?" He asked them.

"Tracks!" Reina cried out excitedly. This was her favorite part. She loved looking at the footprints in the ground.

"Find a trail!" Rhys echoed.

"And make sure you mind tracks other than rabbit," Margaery advised them sternly. "What do you do if you see a track bigger than a rabbit?"

"Call Papa," both twins said in unison.

Hannibal smiled and nodded proudly. "Very good, now stay within sight as you look for tracks." He said as a signal for them to begin their work.

Margaery watched both twins like a hawk as they moved to look for tracks and obey their father's command. They looked through bushes and on the ground with attention to detail. They were their father's children, that was for certain.

"Have you heard the latest news from Essos?" She asked. "That the dragon queen has a foothold in Meereen?" That made her nervous.

Hannibal watched them closely as well when they moved to set their traps. He was very pleased with how quickly they were working. He nodded when she spoke. "Yes I have. I have also had my true lineage confirmed. I intend to send a messenger to reach out to her and inform her of her proper place as the lesser relative." He said.

Margaery didn't take her eyes off the twins as they set their traps. She listened to Hannibal as he gave the details of his plan. Margaery smirked to herself, but not because she took any joy in her thoughts.

"You know as well as I that she won't be satisfied with that," she replied.

Reina gave a sharp cry suddenly that caught Margaery's attention. She had accidentally squeezed a thorny vine, and had cut her hand. Reina began to cry at the pain and cradled her bleeding hand close.

Hannibal was smirking until he heard the cry. He quickly rushed to Reina. He slid an arm around her as he poured some water over her hand to clean off the blood. He then carefully worked to stop the bleeding. "Now, now. There is no need to cry. It is a little prick of the finger. Calm yourself and stand very still. Is the pain going away?" He asked her.
