Anne couldn't stop smirking. She didn't like the way he'd thrown her into a damsel in distress role - that had been her sole motivation to develop her powers, to avoid such a role. Now that she had something on him, she felt empowered. His bland intimidation tactics just made her all the more triumphant.

Even as he turned on his heel to leave, Anne brought a hand up and waved playfully to him. She waited a few moments after the door was closed again and glanced down to her chest.

"He's gone - I think it's safe now," she whispered.
