Anne considered his words with pouted lips, thinking long on his words. "Perhaps. But if she doesn't move our cargo she's limiting herself as to what she can offer her consumers. Especially if we bring in cargo no one else has. She'd be hurting herself as much as she's hurting us."
Anne prided herself on being sharper than she looked. That's what made her a threat; she knew how to process information, evaluate her opponents and identify weakness.
"Or, say, if the rest of her suppliers mysteriously stopped bringing cargo to her," Anne shrugged but her smile was downright malicious. Of course she knew this option was unlikely, but it was a possibility all the same.
She frowned at the command to return to Eleanor the next day. The prospect of licking her wounds in front of an adversary didn't please her much. But she wasn't about to argue.
"I won't be kissing her boots," Anne stated plainly. She gave a sigh and tipped her head back. "But I suppose I'll have to bring her a peace offering, no? Perhaps I'd be more enthusiastic with a little incentive." She chuckled at the last bit.
