Come to the Darkness

The challenge had been issued.

Medusa had wanted Stein long enough, that was obvious enough. There was a kinship between them that neither of them could deny. She had tried so hard to convince him to join her; to accept madness and be beside her in the darkness. Of course, Stein had refused; his infuriating loyalty to the Reaper getting in her way.

But not tonight; Medusa was determined to have Stein join her. If only for the night, she would have him.

Medusa waited, lurking in the shadows outside Stein's house - waiting for him to return from some errand. Her hood was pulled up over her head to hide her face, the darkness of her bodysuit making her melt into the shadows. Medusa's Soul Protect was in place, but only to avoid detection by the Grim Reaper. She knew that if Stein's senses were as good as they were rumored to be, and she knew for a fact that they were, he would sense her there.

She bit her lower lip as she waited, unable to contain her anxiety. Where was he? What was taking so long? Medusa could feel her heart rate racing - but she would focus, and remain the calm, cool and collected Witch that she always was.

The telltale sounds of a chair's wheels would be heard coming from the large, laboratory-like building the moment he knew Medusa was nearby. Stein was, after all, capable of fighting off multiple Meisters without even standing and while unarmed himself, and sometimes he didn't even walk to his destinations, choosing to simply push himself on a office chair. Such was the case here.

He was only taking so long to ensure that this wasn't a trick of some kind. There were no other witches nearby, and he couldn't sense any attempt to build up enough magic to subdue him; even without Spirit, Medusa would have had a hard time trying to take Stein by force. He was, after all, arguably one of most powerful Meisters in Death City, rivaled only by Maka's mother, and quite possibly Maka herself now. She almost certainly knows better by now than to try that. When Stein was sure that this wasn't a trick, he emerged, using his arm to stop the runaway office chair from cruising passed the threshhold of the morgue-like facility he calls home.

"So, you showed up." Alone. And apparently not looking for a fight. He wasn't about to turn down a challenge, least of all one of this nature. It had, after all, been a while since he had had the chance to do something like this with anyone, least of all someone like Medusa. Ideally, he wished they weren't enemies; it wasn't entirely unheard of for a witch to reform, after all. But she chose a path he couldn't follow, and until she reconsidered, he had no choice but to oppose her.

That didn't mean he wouldn't mind sleeping with her, of course.
